Same thing with merchandise. With merchandise, we should just be able to scan the item and it appears in the order. Scan another of the same item, automatically adjusts the quantity.
As Mike states, carriage return is the term most manufacturers use. Sometimes abbreviated as CR.
Most barcode scanners have a way to have it send the Enter key after a scan for that reason. Check the user manual for your scanners, ours had a page of barcodes that we could scan to program certain features on and off, like beeps after scanning, sending enter after a scan, etc.
