refund without detail

Need to be able to refund without detail. A person comes in with an item they received as a gift. She doesn't know when it was purchased, doesn't have a receipt. The gift giver's name is not in the system. There is no way to give her a refund. We need to be able to refund an item with the only information being the item itself.
