Altru Ideas

Fix the Program Revenue report to show refunds correctly.

The Program Revenue report should be a great resource. It's designed to allow you to look at sales for a specific program within a specific period. You can narrow it by program, sales method, event date, and sales date. Unfortunately, it's rendered useless by the fact that refunds do not appear unless the date range you select also includes the date of initial purchase for that refund.

For example, lets say that you want to view ticket sales from the second week of January. You tell the Program Revenue report to display sales from 1/8 to 1/14. The report will not show a refund that happened within that time frame if the ticket was purchased before 1/8. The only way to get the report to account for this refund would be to extend the date backwards to include the initial sale. So, if the ticket was purchased on 1/7, and then refunded on 1/8, the only way you're going to see an accurate report is if you set the date range to include both 1/7 and 1/8, even if you don't need or want to know sales for one of those dates.

This is a problem, and ultimately means that you cannot expect to get accurate numbers from this report. Right now, there's no real reason to include the "Sold date" parameter at all. If you had refunds and want to look at anything other than the entire range that a program was on sale, it's pointless.

It's called the Program Revenue report - what good is it if it doesn't account for all revenue both gained and lost?
