Sponsorships within Special Event

We hold a large gala every year, and in addition to selling tables and individual tickets, we sell sponsorships so that people can donate specifically to whatever they want to sponsor: wine, invitations, entertainment, etc.  The sponsorships are separate from table and ticket sales but still fall within the event revenue and are a large portion of our proceeds.  We also receive general event donations and honoree donations.

It would be really helpful to have all of these available within the event, but particularly the sponsorships.  We toyed with different ways to set them up and eventually did a separate donation web form that uses the same fundraising designation, but it would be much more convenient to have the ability to set up sponsorships within the event itself.

We actually ended up having to do them differently for different events.  We set them up as donations in our Afternoon Tea event, and that worked okay because we only had one sponsorship at each $$ amount.  But those donations don't come to us with a label (which is another thing Altru could add to make our lives easier), so we can only guess from the $$ amount which sponsorship was purchased.

For our Gala, where we offer several different options at each price point (wine, floral, transportation, and print media are all $1500 sponsorships, for example), we had to set those up as a separate event and sell them as "registrations".  It's a hassle, and it seems like we're going to have to figure out a separate workaround for each specific event.

To do this, we had to set up sponsorship levels for them with one seat. Then click that they weren't attending!

The procedure described would provide better efficiency for patrons and  in recording data for patrons to be able to purchase their tables, tickets, sponsorships and donations in one place on the same transaction.
