We have some Givers who need or want to upgrade an existing membership. I do not see a way to upgrade as a gift. The only option seems to be renew, even if the term of the membership has 12 months or 1 month left. For example, someone gave a gift membership online using the webform and realized, after the fact, that they had chosen the wrong level. Since there is no way for the giver to perform an upgrade gift transaction online, i took the information over the phone. When i went in via back office to do the upgrade (as part of a batch), i selected that a membership was being given to the person by another (as you would for a gift membership), but when it got down to the action i needed to take, upgrade is not an option.
