Credit Card Authorization on Canceled Transactions
I talked to David @ Altru about this today, but here's what we're running into:
The Front Desk is creating an order, running a credit card, but before they complete the order, they cancel it (typically due to an error in the order) but by swiping the card the Credit Card Authorization process has already begun and then canceling the order becomes more of a refund or credit back to the card (which takes days to reappear). Then if the order is redone after the cancellation, the card is essentially being charged twice, leading to justifiably, upset customers.
We can retrain our Front Desk Staff, but it's a little misleading for customers who believe their transaction has been canceled.
