Ability to apply a discount to back office membership upgrades

We need to have the ability to add a discount to a membership mid-term upgrade in the back office. The opportunity to add a discount is currently only available for joins, renewals or rejoins. Capturing the discount code is imperative for us. I know that we can manually adjust the price, but then we are losing that vital information about WHY we are adjusting the price. (Plus we need to be able to report on the success of a discount)

It seems that this is available when processing a mid-tern upgrade on the Daily Sales screen. The same functionality should be available back office too.
