Renewal reporting vs mid term up and downgrades
When a person renews either as a straight renewal, or an upgrade or downgrade, we'd like it to first be categorized as a renewal, then upgrade, downgrade or straight renewal at the same level. We'd also like midterm upgrades and downgrades to be first catgorized as midterm. A renewal should be solely for transactions that extend the expiration date for another term. Nothing else should be considered a renewal. How do other organizations handle reporting on renewals? We don't really see an easy way to get accurate numbers.
We implemented a refresh to (most of) our membership levels. That means for the first full year, the upgrades and downgrades won't be accurate because all transactions for those levels are being counted as upgrade/downgrade, even when the dollar amount stayed the same.

I'm commenting on this again because it's still bugging me. This is what I think Altru should do:
Actions = Join, Renew, Rejoin, Midterm Upgrade
Action type (a new category!) = Up, Down, Same

I agree, midterm upgrades ought to be able to be siphoned out. They are entirely something different. I also have a problem that member benefits, particularly digital guest passes are issued for midterm upgrades. They shouldn't be issued again when they've already been issued at the join or renewal transaction.

I have SO many issues reporting accurate numbers for renewals, rejoins, upgrades, and downgrades in Altru. The words are used with inconsistent definitions throughout the database.
