We have inactivated some membership levels now that all of our current members are in the new levels. However, we have encountered how difficult it is to rejoin Members whose level was one of the discontinued levels.
In Daily Sales, for instance, the "Rejoin" button is greyed out, and Front Desk staff have to click on Membership, then (because we have a few Membership programs) hit "Next" and finally there's the Rejoin button.
Since it is possible to rejoin from an inactive level, why can't the Rejoin button not be greyed out? A pop up message saying that the membership level needs to be edited would be sufficient. It caught me off guard and before I got the word out about this, some patrons were erroneously issued new memberships, which causes its own headaches. It's just really counterintuitive. Staff, I think fairly, assume that because an option is greyed out, it is impossible.
It seems to add a lot of steps and introduces a whole world of data entry errors that could easily be avoided if the Rejoin button in Daily Sales was not greyed out and you could rejoin out of an inactive membership level right then and there.
