Ability to sell gift certificates online
As the holiday season approaches (in just a few short months), we would love to sell gift certificates online.
We have a partner that is offering to put our link on their website to sell gift certificates but we might lose out on this opportunity since we cannot do this in Altru.
I see it functioning as a hybrid of tickets and memberships. I see it having the same functionality as gift memberships (where you get all the recipient information) but have the same functions as tickets where you are sent an e-ticket confirmation and can print the gift certificate directly from home.

It is extremely frustrating that Altru has not implemented this. I have lost count the number of times a gift of membership purchaser didn't know the contact info for the gift receiver, or wanted to purchase a gift of membership as a raffle prize, or wanted the membership to start on the first visit date. We currently sell "certificates" as a merchandise item. But if the purchaser loses the certificate, they are out of luck because we have no way of knowing when/if it was redeemed. Getting the accounting to line up so the merchandise and membership revenue isn't double counted is a nuisance. Selling a traditional gift of membership to a placeholder record would mess up our active member household count.
Any movement on this topic?
We will be going live with Altru 07/01. Our current web site allows the purchase of gift membership certificates online. If this goes away I'll be sad...with the system we have now, I had to switch to a gift membership process that was in the form of a certificate in the amount of the member level...and then we would send the certificate to the person that purchased it. This would allow the purchaser to sort of...wrap and personalize as they like. It was much easier on our small shop membership department here. Hoping Altru understands gift certificate options are really great!!!!
This would be amazing to have the ability to sell gift certificates online. I would also like to see away to track them. We can apply tickets by an order number, I don't think it would be too hard to set up a gift certificates tab in Altru and then use the order number to apply the gift certificates to an order. You would then probably be able to set up an acknowledgement email to look like a gift certificate that would get emailed to the person that bought it so they can print it and give it to the recipient. I really hope this gets implemented- it would have been awesome for upcoming holiday season.
The ability to sell, redeem and track gift cards through Altru at all would be great!
