Ability to keep a permanent membership card for an individual or a household/look up ID

It would be GREAT to not have to run a membership card each time a person/household renews or purchases a new membership. We have a few membership levels that are 6 month memberships and it gets very redundant to print membership cards each time they renew. I know that many organizations are fine with looking up members by using their ID but if you are reciprocating with multiple museums, it's difficult to issue new cards on an ongoing basis.
