Merge duplicate addresses on the same record

I would like to be able to merge addresses on a single constituent together.  Often, with a websale, we get a duplicate person.  After merging them, I have multiple addresses that are the same (or typed slightly different but still the same place).  It would be great to be able to connect these to clear up the record.  It would also help to be able to mark any address as copied to household and spouse (once you are editing an address it won't allow that anymore).

I've been working on a document with steps to do this. It is a cumbersome work-around but it does work.

How to Remove Multiple Addresses from a Constituent

    1. Go into the contact record of a constituent and select an address that you want to remove.

      1. Look at the date that record was created.

    2. Open a duplicate tab for the same constituent and go into either their revenue or sales orders.

      1. Find the order for the date the address was created.

    3. Open another tab and go to the Sales option. Select Sales Order Search.

      1. Input the Sales Order Number.

      2. Select that Sales Order.

    4. Once you have opened that Order, select Edit Delivery Information.

      1. Click on the pencil to edit the address.

      2. Enter the address exactly the same as the Primary address and save.

    5. In yet another tab, create a duplicate person. (I usually use first name initial combined with last name - no spaces) to create a unique constituent name.

    6. Back in the Sales Order tab, select Change Patron on Order and change it to the dupe person.

    7. The order will now transfer to your dupe person.

    8. Merge your Primary Constituent and your dupe together in the usual manner.

    9. Go back into the primary’s contact record and delete the address you just fixed.

Yes! It's so frustrating have duplicates of essentially the same address with different spacing, capitalization, punctuation, etc. and being unable to delete or even really hide them.

Yes, it becomes very tedious to clean up queries when there are slight variations to addresses which post due to web sales. Please develop a way to merge addresses on a single constituent!

This is a HUGE issue for us! We have some constituents with 5 duplicates of the same address/email/phone. It would be great if the system automatically merged duplicate contact information.

Regina, you can go into the sales order and Edit Delivery Information to change the address on the order. This allows you to then delete the duplicate address. But I agree it is very time-consuming so a function to merge addresses would be the best solution.

This has been driving me crazy.  If an address (even if a DUPE add) is connected to a sales order I cannot delete it...at least I  think - please let me know I'm wrong and not nuts.  It is very irritating to have to mark that dupe a 'nothing' type and then have it DO NOT MAIL checked...and THEN give it the reason DUPE...srsly, I'm I nuts?  Is there another way, please say yes.

When addresses with one small difference (Apt # vs #) are linked to orders, neither address can be deleted even though they are the same address. Would be so much cleaner to merge these.
