We have affinity groups that are "add-ons" to memberships. It is necessary that these affinity groups be sold online. Since we could not sell add-ons online, we created a separate membership program for affinity groups. This has been ok, but we have run into some challenges: the expiration date is very tricky, since both are calculated independently; the whole purpose of creating a membership program was to sell them online, but the patron has to go through 2 separate transactions since multiple memberships cannot be sold in one transaction online.
another tricky thing about our affinity group, which may make the "add-on" function atypical, is that it needs to be applied per individual. Someone may have a family membership with two adults, but only one of the adults has the affinity group.
