Magnetic Membership Card Readers

We would like to be able to give someone their membership cards as soon as they purchase a membership. We are hoping to just swipe a blank magnetic card through a writer and have their information assigned to it, then have them swipe it when they come in.

Is this at all possible? This would relive a huge problem with our membership cards.
