Altru Ideas

I include birth dates in Altru for our volunteers in their constituent record and run a query at the beginning of each month to see what birthday cards I need to get ready. A new volunteer recently returned the form where I collect birth date with just the month and day. That's plenty of information for my purposes, but Altru seems to require a year in that field.

Is there a way to remove the requirement for a year in the birth date field? I realized that would prevent the age from calculating, but it's not the age that I'm interested in. For the time being I've included a year of 9999 so that I can include the information I want while also making it clear that I don't have a year, but this seems like a less than ideal solution.

Probably a question for another conversation, but I'm also wondering if the ability to see the birth date field can be managed in permissions?
