I think it would be helpful to have the ability to change a smart field name even though  it's being used in a query or export.

Sometimes I create a smart field, but then I realize the name I gave it months ago isn't the best description.  Or it's a smart query that I know I will never use again so I'd like to add something to the title like "DNU" for do not use.  That would help me to visually organize it when looking at my smart field list or trying to find one while making a new query.

It's hard to track them down in older queries/exports so sometimes I'm not able to delete them.  Renaming them would give me the option to know that I've reviewed them already and decided I don't want to use them anymore.
