Is there a way to send e-mail to more than one member of households, but only send one per e-mail address

To save time, when our front desk adds a household, they check the "copy contact info to all household members" box, resulting in the same e-mail address being copied to all members of many of our households. On other households, however, we have separate e-mail addresses for each adult, mostly because they are core audience and people we know more intimately.

Because Altru sends e-mail to record with an address, regardless of how many times that address is in the mailing list we send all of our mailings to one e-mail per household. Recently, though, we've realized that this costs us sales because in many cases the person who is the primary household member is not the primary decision maker, and the info doesn't get passed along.

Is there a way to send one e-mail to households that use a single e-mail address and multiple e-mails to households that have multiple e-mail addresses? Alternately, and for other functions as well, we would love for the program to automatically only send one piece per e-mail address, regardless of how many times that address shows up in the list or have the ability to manually remove recipients during the list generation process.
