How do I send a one-off e-mail to a constituent?

I want to send individual e-mails that will be documented on a constituent's record the same way a one-off letter would be, but I don't seem to be able to do so via the "Write a Letter" functionality. Is there a way to send an individual e-mail via Altru that will automatically be documented on the constituent's record without creating an appeal mailing?

I understand this now. Recently I've been sending all renewals via email. A member just emailed me with questions about her membership - she thought it was active. Turns out it had lapsed but we had a different email for her. SO my renewals have gone elsewhere. It'd be neat to be able to send a 'one off' email...something that has the last letter contents of your last renewal mailing to her...I know that you can email directly by clicking, which I love...but I'd like to send her something that has the renewal link, etc w/o having to recreate the wheel...does that make sense? If I know I could copy and past that email content quickly that would work...

If you simply click on the email listed in the phone # on the Bio 1 tab, it will generate an email for that constituent which you can complete and send.
