Nearly all of our events are free, and we have had some dissatisfaction from patrons over the fact that free ticket purchases still require a "Billing Address" even when they are not asked to make a payment. It would be helpful if the Billing Address were optional for shopping cart checkouts that do not include a monetary transaction. (We can make the address information optional for tickets, but since it still asks for billing address at checkout, this is basically useless.)
Billing address information isn't necessary anyway if there is no payment being made, so hopefully this can be fixed!

Moving to virtual programs during Covid has raised this issue for us as well! We are offering free virtual programs and people are very confused to have to provide their address for a completely virtual interaction. It seems to be discouraging registrations.
Hi Kiku--Thank you for replying. Constituents haven't complained about the "Billing Address" header description, but the fact that they have to give a billing address even if they are not paying any money. What we are hoping for is a way to eliminate the "Billing Address" field for shopping carts in which no money will be spent. Many of our constituents are dissatisfied at having to give away personal data that we do not actually need. Thank you for investigating this and please let me know if I can clarify further.
We changed that language on our web forms to say "Information of Person Making the Payment" though even that is still incorrect when there is no money being paid. I wanted it to say "Information of Person Making the Reservation," but the transactions are not always reservations either. Maybe you can think of a better header for this section that will not confuse people whether they are paying or not?
