Overiding memberships to save time

I wish that if a couple had two separate memberships, that if I go into the primary household member, and try to add their spouse to the primary membership, that it would ask me to override the spouse's old membership, instead of having to go into their profile and erase manually. It's inefficient.

    I've always wondered if there is a better solution for this. The current method of cancelling one member's "extra" membership provides inaccurate information for that constituent. For example, the member since is inaccurate.
